Five Local Markets Worth a Sunday Morning Drive

Nothing sets a Sunday up better than an early market run. Here are five worth the drive, whatever corner of the country you’re starting from.

The one for produce

A proper farmers’ market — vegetables pulled that morning, a cheese stall with a queue that’s always worth joining, and prices that make the supermarket look silly.

The one for breakfast

Go hungry. The griddle stall alone justifies the trip, and there’s usually a bench nearby to sit and watch the town wake up.

The one for crafts

Smaller, quieter, more about browsing than buying — though you’ll likely leave with something you didn’t plan on.

The one that’s really a social event

Smaller stalls, but everyone’s there to chat as much as shop. If you want to actually meet people from the area, this is the one.

The one worth the longest drive

Further afield, but a proper day out — combine it with a walk or a pub lunch and make a full morning of it.
