Bank holiday weekends have a way of filling up fast once word gets around, so we’ve pulled together a spread of gigs and sessions worth building a weekend around.
Friday: the warm-up
Most towns have a pub session running by Friday evening — nothing scheduled, just musicians who tend to show up. Worth asking locally which pub has the reputation; it changes year to year.
Saturday: the main event
This is when the bigger, ticketed gigs tend to land. Book ahead where you can — the good ones sell out days in advance, especially anything with a well-known local act on the bill.
Sunday: the wind-down
Sunday sessions tend to be quieter, more acoustic, more about conversation between songs than performance. A good choice if you’re nursing a Saturday night.
Got a gig happening this weekend we should know about? Send it our way.
